Boundary layers for the Navier - Stokes equations : asymptotic analysis

چکیده
In this article, we simplify and improve the asymptotic analysis of the solutions of the NavierStokes problem given in [8]. This problem is characterized by the presence of a small term which corresponds to the inverse of Reynolds number Re very large for the Navier-Stokes equations (Re >> 1). This small parameter is called the viscosity and denoted hereafter ε (ε = 1/Re). Thus, when the viscosity ε goes to zero, a particular phenomenon named boundary layers occurs in the interior or near the boundary of the domain considered for the Navier-Sotkes problem. The comprehension of these boundary layers makes the subject of many scientific works. For the mathematical point of view, see for example [4], [5], [6], [7], and [9] among many others.

Vorticity layers of the 2D Navier-Stokes equations with a slip type boundary condition
We study the asymptotic behavior, at small viscosity ε, of the NavierStokes equations in a 2D curved domain. The Navier-Stokes equations are supplemented with the slip boundary condition, which is a special case of the Navier friction boundary condition where the friction coefficient is equal to two times the curvature on the boundary. We construct an artificial function, which is called a corr...
متن کاملViscous boundary layers for the Navier-Stokes equations with the Navier slip conditions
We tackle the issue of the inviscid limit of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations when the Navier slip-with-friction conditions are prescribed on the impermeable boundaries. We justify an asymptotic expansion which involves a weak amplitude boundary layer, with the same thickness as in Prandtl’s theory and a linear behavior. This analysis holds for general regular domains, in both dimensi...
متن کاملStability of Boundary Layers for the Nonisentropic Compressible Circularly Symmetric 2D Flow
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of the circularly symmetric solution to the initial boundary value problem of the compressible non-isentropic Navier-Stokes equations in a two-dimensional exterior domain with impermeable boundary condition when the viscosities and the heat conduction coefficient tend to zero. By multi-scale analysis, we obtain that away from the boundary the comp...
متن کاملBoundary Layers and Heat Transfer on a Rotating Rough Disk
The study of flow and heat transfer over rotating circular disks is of great practical importance in understanding the cooling of rotatory machinery such as turbines, electric motors and design and manufacturing of computer disk drives. This paper presents an analysis of the flow and heat transfer over a heated infinite permeable rough disk. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the elliptic Nav...
متن کاملSpectral Stability of Noncharacteristic Isentropic Navier–Stokes Boundary Layers
Building on the work of Barker, Humpherys, Lafitte, Rudd, and Zumbrun in the shock wave case, we study stability of compressive, or shock-like, boundary layers of the isentropic compressible Navier–Stokes equations with γ -law pressure by a combination of asymptotic ODE estimates and numerical Evans function computations. Our analytical results include convergence of the Evans function in the s...
